Stan Woodman’s yoga journey began when he took his first class in 1991, and deepened when he started a dedicated ashtanga yoga practice in 1997. Moving from Colorado to New York, Stan went from catchin’ air snowboarding deep in the backcountry of the Rocky Mountains to catchin’ air ashtanga style in New York City, the Hamptons and Greenwich, CT. Along with an extensive background in bodywork, Stan has completed his 1,000-hour yoga teaching certification through Beryl Bender Birch and The Hard and the Soft Yoga Institute. He has also studied with many senior Ashtanga teachers, and traveled to India in 2005 and 2006 for further study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois. His traditional approach to Ashtanga allows practitioners to develop a safe and mindful practice and take what they learn into their daily lives.
As a Board Member of Give Back Yoga Foundation and co-owner of Kaia Yoga Complete Wellness Centers in Westport and Greenwich, one of Stan’s missions is to provide yoga for all children everywhere. His work has begun in Fairfield County, where he resides. Stan and his wife Gina Norman also operate the Kaia Foundation, practicing seva by supporting the work of service organizations that help disadvantaged women and children.
One of Stan’s favorite things to do is spend time with his beautiful daughter, Kaia.
